Physical education at St. John’s Special School
At St. John’s Special School, we believe that Physical Education (PE) plays a vital role in the holistic development of our students. Our PE program is designed to promote physical fitness, enhance motor skills, and foster social interaction among students, all while emphasising inclusivity and enjoyment. Our commitment to physical education is evident throughout the school community, as we recognise its importance in building confidence, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle. We aim to create an environment where every student feels empowered to participate, regardless of their abilities. Each class has the opportunity to engage in PE sessions led by our experienced PE teacher, Ms. Duggan. Every activity is tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students, ensuring that everyone can participate and thrive. The PE curriculum at St. John’s includes a wide range of activities such as:
- Yoga
- Gymnastics
- Dance
- Athletics
- Aquatics (Swimming)

Active Schools Flag
At our school, we are proud to participate in the Active Schools Flag initiative, which promotes physical activity and healthy living among students. By engaging in a variety of
sports, fitness activities, and wellness programs, we aim to foster a vibrant culture of health and well-being within our community. Our dedicated staff and enthusiastic students work collaboratively to organise events, encourage participation, and celebrate achievements, all while striving to meet the criteria required to achieve the prestigious Active Schools Flag. Through this initiative, we not only enhance our students' physical skills but also instil values of teamwork, perseverance, and a lifelong commitment to an
active lifestyle.
