In recent months, we’ve welcomed more students through our doors than ever
before. While we are absolutely thrilled to welcome all of these wonderful young people and to be a place that families trust and turn to, this growth has come without any additional resources or funding. It’s a challenge—but one we are determined to meet, with the help of our wider community. As mentioned in our newsletter last week, right now, one of our most urgent needs is an additional 9-seater vehicle. Many of our pupils rely on school transport to access the wider world—whether it’s engaging in community based learning & services, going on outings, or simply having the chance to experience everyday things that most of us take for granted. Our existing transport can no longer meet the growing demand, and without another vehicle, we risk having to scale back some of these vital experiences. We have been overwhelmed by the support from the amazing people of Dungarvan who are going above and beyond to help us reach our fundraising goal of €30,000. Pictured this week are some of our staff and pupils being presented with a cheque for €4,500 from Micheal Ryan of The Ormonde Cafe. From all of us at St. John's, we would like to say the biggest thank you to Micheal & Jenny and everyone at the Ormonde Cafe for their incredible generosity! Also pictured is a snapshot from last Saturday's Car Boot Sale which took place at Quann's Field. This was the fourth Car Boot sale which ran over the summer in aid of St. John's. We would like to say a huge thank you to Matt Doocey & his family and to all of the wonderful traders who made this such a great and worthwhile event. To date, Matt has raised over €750 for our new bus. Thank you so much Matt! We have had such generous donations from local businesses over the past few weeks that we are already at the halfway mark on our fundraising journey with €15,000!! Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us! The fantastic members of The Black Sheep MotorCycle Club are organising another very exciting event this weekend which is sure to be a fun family day out! On Saturday 20th, the Club members will be holding collections for St. John's new bus at Garvey's Coolagh Petrol Station, EuroSpar Abbeyside & SuperValu Dungarvan. If you see them on the day, please be sure to give them a big hi...we really cannot thank them enough! This Sunday 21st September, the Club is hosting a Charity Bike Show (details below) at St. John's School from 12pm. Everyone is welcome at this event which will include a BBQ and raffle on the day. We would just love to see you all there! |

9 seater mini Bus
|
Our current school bus is an extremely valuable asset for us and is constantly on the go. Many of the activities that our students partake in would not be possible without our bus and drivers. As our school’s population increases, so too does the demand for the bus.
With this in mind, an initiative has put in place to fundraise for a 9-seater mini bus, which would open up many possibilities for our students. It would also help small groups go to events without the barrier of booking costly transport arrangements. We will be organising fundraising events in the near future towards this, as we look to the support of our generous community. |
