Hello everyone, welcome back! Hope you all had a great summer. We all enjoyed our holidays and we're ready and excited for a new fun filled year here in St. John's.

Every Monday morning we share our news from the weekend with our friends. We have a very important share chair which we sit on when telling our news.

Our next theme this month was School. We really enjoyed exploring the school grounds and visiting all the different classrooms, meeting all the staff and our school friends.

Oh it’s October!!
Our first theme this month was Autumn. Of course this meant we took trips outside to spot signs of autumn.
We collected leaves and picked berries.

We had such a busy month, not only with our themes...........
It wouldn't be October if we didn't pay a visit to our local fire station during fire safety week. Thank you to all the firemen who allowed this to happen and took the time to make our visit such a memorable one. We really appreciated it.

Come on Ireland!!!!!! We watched the Ireland V Russia game in the school hall with all our school friends.
We enjoyed our visit from Penny the dog from Dog's Trust Ireland.
We paid one last visit to Ms. Walsh's room to visit the beautiful butterflies before they were set free!!
Thanks to the Leavers class for a lovely Cheerio's Breakfast morning. We enjoyed dining with Ms. Whelan's class.
Such a fabulous movie - Abominable!!! We really enjoyed it.

We're back!!!! We all had a lovely midterm break and enjoyed Halloween. Time to get back to business.......

Our next theme of the month was ‘Shopping’. We really enjoyed this theme and everyone loved playing shopping. We kicked off with story time with a ‘Race to the Checkout’.

We had our annual trip to Faithlegg. We met Santa, Elsa and lots of other character! We had soooo much fun!!!
We were so lucky to spend the day in Waterford at Winterval. We went on the train and had some cookies and hot chocolate with our friends!

We went to the cinema to see Frozen 2. Everyone was so excited!!!
In December we watched some lovely Christmas movies....we watched Klaus and Happy Feet
We had our Christmas show too! Everyone did so well and we had a blast. We were little snowmen on stage singing our hearts out!!!

Happy New Year everyone. We hope you all had a fabulous Christmas. We enjoyed our break but we’re back and ready for action!!!

Having spotted a snowman we said we would try draw our very own on our chalkboards (might be the closest we get to the real thing this winter)
We took our love of snowmen to our play dough mats also!!!
Fun times in PE - paper plate ice skating, snowball tennis and some snowman bowling.

Our next theme for the month of January was Countries.
We looked at the globe and talked about planet earth. We looked at the land and sea.
We looked at the country we live in and found it on the globe. We then made an Irish flag craft in Art.
We tried drawing planet earth and the Irish flag on our blackboards with chalk.
One of our classmates is from Poland. We looked at Poland on the globe, listened to the Polish National Anthem, learned to say hello in Polish and made a Polish flag for art.
This month involved so much.........
One of our classmates learned to read the story book 'The Little Red Hen' at home and then for his news in school he read the story to his classmates. It was so lovely. We all really enjoyed it.
Also one of our other school friends went on a trip to England and brought us all back a present of a keyring torch. He shared them with us all at news time. It was so kind of him. We loved our present.

We are busy learning all about shapes and we played a fun game on the interactive whiteboard.
We had fun with musical instruments whilst singing our nursery rhymes 'Bingo' and 'I am the music man'.

February Fun
This month we started off with a great theme - Friendship & Valentine’s. It was such a lovely feel good theme.
We looked at what makes a good friend and a bad friend.

We learned a fabulous theme song ‘Will you be a friend of mine’ and each day we picked a new friend to dance with.
For nursery rhyme time we chose a friend to act out ‘Row row row your boat’ with.
We practised drawing our friends on our chalkboards.
We made some very cute friendship bracelets for our friends.
We all painted our own hand to make a special handprint which went on a friendship wreath display in the hall with all our school friends.
We enjoyed some playtime with our friends.
Next up ‘Valentine’s’. We thought we’d share some love!!!

February was an extra special month as we celebrated not one but 3 important birthdays for 3 great friends who all turned 9!!!!

The birthday girl brought in her birthday present and shared it with her friends at playtime. So kind!
We enjoyed a whole school trip to the cinema to see Dr. Dolittle. It was such a great movie.
We took a trip on the school bus with Ms. Price's class up to Lismore. It was a lovely afternoon out with friends.

Magic March......
Our theme this month was Ireland. We looked at where in the world we live and how Ireland looks on the map.
We played an old traditional game of Marbles in PE.
We learned all about St. Patrick, our patron saint of Ireland and made some stained glass shamrocks.
We enjoyed learning about and using some traditional Irish musical instruments.
