Fun on St Patrick's Day !

Thank you to Ms Walsh and Shauna for their Irish Dancing on St Patrick's Day ! We had such fun we carried on dancing in the classroom!

Media Studies

Learning about the media - focusing on Newspapers. We looked at both local and national newspapers. We identified headlines, main ideas and facts in a variety of articles on many different topics.

Continuing work in the Polytunnel

A lot of work is being done in the polytunnel. Spring time is a busy time of year! It wont be long before we can eat and cook our own home grown veg. We can't wait ! Well done to everyone for all their hard work weeding, watering and planting.

Internet Research​

We worked in pairs to do some research on famous people.

Coffee Morning in the shopping centre

Science

In science we were learning about electricity. We made some circuits with bulbs, buzzers, motors and switches. We discovered many ways of making a circuit and even made our own electric car using a motor and a fan.

GAA in Port Laoise

We joined with several schools from around the country and had a great time improving our football skills. Thanks to the Carlow IT students for making the day fun. We developed a lot of new skills.

Woodwork

Our Magnets Project

We really enjoyed learning about magnets. In groups we designed and created games using magnets for Primary 2. We hope they enjoyed playing our games we enjoyed making them!  We are really proud of the way we worked in small groups and of the final product!

Busy at work in the Polytunnel

Spring is here and it is time to get busy in the polytunnel. There is lots of work to do but we have made a great start !

Meditation and Quiet Time

As part of our Personal Care Programme and SPHE we have been learning about the benefits of mindfulness and meditation. We all participate in some quiet time regularly during the week. We are beginning to feel the positive benefits !

U-15 Soccer in Cork

The under 15 soccer team went to Little Island in Cork to play in the Munster Soccer blitz. They played very well and an enjoyable day was had by all. We are very proud of them all.

Understanding Weight and Capacity

As part of our work on Measurements. We were looking at weight and capacity. In groups we went to Supermarkets to look at produce available.Firstly we estimated the measurements and costs of a variety of items and then went to town to visit the Supermarkets. We compared how much different items weighed,the size of containers and the price. Our estimating skills proved to be very good !

Learning about handling data

We have been busy learning how to collect, collate and handle data this week. Small groups designed a survey choosing the topic and questions. We predicted the outcomes and we very accurate in these predictions.

Fun preparing for our Christmas Play!

 As part of the Christmas Variety Show Secondary 1 performed a short play about Christmas around the World. We learned about Spain, Germany, Australia and Japan, Everyone participated and worked hard preparing  and rehearsing. We also had plenty of fun doing so!

We have been working hard in Maths our topics this month have been Money, Place Value and Shape and Space
We have been learning all about plants. We are looking forward to using all we have learnt in the polytunnel!
Halloween Art and Craft. We made some clay pumpkins and used our knowledge of 3D Shapes to create Haunted Houses!!

We have had a very busy September!

Hard at work in the Polytunnel! We have planted some cabbage and lettuce. We have also planted some flowers for some colour and some daffodil and tulip bulbs ready for the spring! We are looking forward to planting and learning more about growing our own food.

We have been learning about Understanding Time and focusing on our number work in Maths. We have enjoyed learning on the ipad.
