March
Our theme for March was Ireland. We looked at Ireland a few months ago under the "Countries" theme so it was interesting to see what we remembered! March was cut short for us but here's a few photos for you all to look at.
We looked at different instruments and made a lot of noise!
Our friendly caretaker came into our classroom and sang some lovely songs for us.
Ms Walsh had some very cute visitors in her classroom so we went for a little look!
February
Our themes for February were Friendship and Health. Take a look at some of the activities we engaged in and enjoyed!
We started off with Friendship. We spoke about good friends and bad friends. We also did some Valentine's activities.

We made heart shaped toast and put some jam on it for Valentine's Day.
For our Health theme we looked at healthy and unhealthy food, looking after ourselves and going to the dentist and doctor.
We went to Colligan with Ms Whelan's class for a lovely walk.
January
Our themes for January were Winter and Countries. We went to see the Friary show called "Back to the 80's" and we also started horse riding which was a huge hit with us all! We had a busy January!
For our Countries theme we looked at Ireland and Australia. Our favourite was Australia!
In our food sessions we looked at meat, poultry and fish! We liked some of these but not all!

November
Our themes for November were Homes and Shopping. We enjoyed exploring these themes and had lots of fun with them! The Christmas festivities have also started so we are really looking forward to all of the fun filled activities that December brings!
Our first theme was Homes. We looked at a variety of homes and houses. We also looked at different animal homes.
Our second theme was Shopping. We made shopping lists, played some shopping games and of course we went around the shops in town.
We explored different vegetables and types of bread.
We started Zumba every Thursday for six weeks. We love this!
We celebrated a very special birthday this month!
We went to Cork Pops and thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment.
October
Our themes for the month were Autumn and Halloween. We did lots of activities relating to these themes. Take a look at some of the things we got up to!
Here we are busy in art.
We learned Autumn words and matched pictures to the words.
We looked, smelled, touched and tasted different vegetables. We looked at how they were spelled too.
The Leavers were raising money and made delicious pancakes for us!
We decorated buns with Halloween bats.
We looked at different Halloween related pictures that we might see.
We did some Halloween themed word work.
We painted funny faces on our own pumpkins.
We helped Liam carve a pumpkin. One or two of us even tasted it!
We played some Halloween games in class and had great fun!
We joined up with other classes in the hall and explored some gooey Halloween sensory bowls!
We had to find the pumpkins and hidden inside were lovely treats!
We saw Penny from Dog's Trust.
We took a trip to the cinema with the whole school.
We watched Ireland play in the Rugby World Cup.
We took a trip to Durrow to see the spooky tunnel!
September
Welcome back to school!
September was a busy month of settling back into our routines. The themes for the month were Myself and School. Take a look at what we got up to.
We picked pictures of our favourite things and stuck them on trees.
We took a look at ourselves in the mirror.
We did some art activities.

For the School theme we looked at and spoke about pictures of our school and then went and visited the different classrooms and other rooms in school.
We did some school activity word and picture matching. We played "I Spy...".
We made lovely school bags and pencils.
Every morning we go for a run to help us get ready for our work.

We enjoy our smelling session and our food exploration! Sometimes!
We have a few minutes of quiet/relaxation time where we listen to nice music and use a sensory toy.
We like playing with our sensory boxes.
We had a very special birthday.
Some of the older students found a hedgehog outside so Georgie brought him in to show us.
